Dr Palmer is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and a member of the Scientific and Medical Network and the Society for Psychical Research. He has been trained in hypnotherapy by the Proundfoot School of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and the Royal Society of Medicine and has a diploma in medical hypnosis from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis. Dr Palmer is active in promoting scientific research into the efficacy of hypnotherapeutic and psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) methods.

Physiological study of Brazilian mediums

For years there have been speculations about a variety of processes underlying mediumship. The study reported here is a pioneering effort in the study of the physiology of mediumship through the use of neuroimaging techniques. The authors of the paper investigated the performance of Brazilian automatic writing mediums.
